45+ Stunning Minecraft House Ideas [For Survival World Fans]
The number one rule for Minecraft houses in Survival mode is to use building materials that are easy to collect. The more exotic blocks you need, the longer it’ll take to build a starter Survival house.
That doesn’t meaning your creations have to be boring and unattractive. Don’t agree with me?
Take a look at these stunning Minecraft Survival houses from mini-castles and sandstone masterpieces to cottagecore builds and sleek modern houses.
A lot of the design ideas listed below use basic building blocks in creative ways to achieve exquisite results. Let’s check them out!
1 – Cherry Blossom Survival House
If your aesthetic is fairycore, be sure to stuff your inventory with all the cherry logs, saplings, leaves and blossoms you can hold as soon as you come across a cherry grove.
Got it? Next, check out this easy-to-follow tutorial video by Zaypixel in order to build your very own Cherry Blossom Survival house.
It’s a gorgeous two-floor affair which uses a perfect mix of cherry logs, stone and wood. The result is a cute little home that’s not overwhelmingly pink.
Doesn’t it warm your heart to see such a tasteful and cozy house made out of cherry wood?
2 – Cabin in the Woods
There’s something very soothing about this practically minimalist wooden cabin by YouTuber Molly.
The design feels comfortingly familiar. It’s a home in the woods you’d want for yourself in the real world.
This build uses a mix of stone and spruce wood to great effect. Every element from the stone pillars to the trapdoor detailing fits in harmoniously with the overall look of the house.
Check out the video above to see how to create one for yourself.
3 – Dark Oak Survival House
Here’s one for lovers of Dark Academia vibes – a large dark oak house that you could easily build in your Survival world.
The exterior features a beguiling blend of dark oak alongside deepslate and cobblestone.
The overall structural design is equally intriguing. You could add a slightly unkempt garden at the back to give it a personal touch of your own.
You can watch the how-to video by creator Lex The Builder, in case you want to give it a whirl.
4 – Cottagecore Cherry Blossom House
I absolutely love this charming cottagecore build by Polar Cat on YouTube.
It uses cherry wood, white concrete, stone, oak and spruce as the main building materials.
Not only is the architecture eye-catching, small details like the hanging Glow Berry vines, Glow Lichen and flowering Azalea bushes add a magical touch to the overall appearance.
If you think the exterior looks enchanting, you should check out the interior – it’ll give you some great ideas for furniture layout and decor.
5 – Simple Two-Story Japanese House
YouTuber Cortezerino regularly posts detailed tutorials on Minecraft house builds such as this stunning Japanese house with two floors.
The Oriental inspiration is unmistakable from the raised platform on which the building stands and the “paper” walls to the low seating furniture and suspended fence feature.
If you’re in the early stage of the game, you could swap the white concrete walls for blocks of undyed wool instead.
Don’t forget to check out the cool armor stand holding a great-sword as well as the genius upper floor seating made out of cake! It’s definitely going in my list of creative Minecraft furniture ideas.
6 – Wooden Hillside House
In case you’re all about a room with a view, check out this modern hillside house by Mr Minecraft on YouTube.
The ground floor is given to a kitchen and dining room area. A spiral staircase leads to the top. The upper floor has a spacious bedroom plus library setup with glass panes for walls on two side.
There’s even an interestingly designed L-shaped balcony hung with lamps so you can enjoy the hilly scenery.
You’ll mainly need different types of wood and a lot of lanterns to complete this build. The end result is stunning in a minimalistic way.
7 – Late Game Survival House
This green and brown cottage is so pretty! Not only is the color combination eye-catching, its split-roof design arrests the gaze too.
Created by BlueNerd (see the YouTube tutorial video below), it is definitely not a starter house since you need to go to the Nether to get the Warped wood.
You could choose another combination of wood types or use oxidized copper blocks and wood to replicate this aesthetic.
Do check out the interior design – the house fits in a kitchen, dining room and bedroom. You could add a basement for a library and extra storage too.
8 – Large Wooden House
This romantic old wooden house is a great design idea for Minecraft fans who like to have friends along on their Survival adventures. It looks like a proper multi-player base.
The house sits on a foundation of stone bricks. The rest of the structure is made from a mix of oak, dark oak and spruce.
It’s built to look like one of those ancient farmhouses, solid wood and all – and you just know it’s going to stand strong for ages. It has that cozy, dependable vibe.
Lex The Builder’s YouTube video above shows you how to construct it with ease, should you wish to do so.
9 – Small Farmhouse
If you’d prefer a farmhouse build that’s not all wood, here is one by Zaypixel that you’re going to love.
The ground floor is all wood and glass, while the upper floor has walls made of calcite (the latter can be substituted with dyed concrete which is easier to acquire).
The white plays well against the brown. And the stone brick accents on the wooden roof lend a pleasing aesthetic balance to the design.
Will you be putting this house on your “to-build” list?
10 – Italian House
Here’s some design inspiration for folks who like their Minecraft bases to be vibrant and welcoming.
It’s an Italian house build by YouTube user Munkei. Sure, it uses a bunch of resource packs and shaders to look as good as it does.
But the main idea will still translate well enough in the vanilla version of the game – yellow terracotta for the walls, red bricks for the roof, and wooden doors and windows.
Check out the speed-build video above to see it come to life.
11 – Italian Inspired Survival House
SheraNom and Gorillo are among my favorite Minecraft builders ever. If you want to know why, cast you gaze upon this picturesque Italian-inspired Survival house they’ve collabed over!
It uses a perfect mix of wood, brick, diorite, glowing lichen, stone, granite, concrete and terracotta to create a charmingly rustic look. I love the little tower, smithy and chimney details.
There’s even an overgrown path connecting the forge, main residence and side garden. The duo’s tutorial on Patreon includes house blueprints and interiors for this cute little build.
12 – Dark Oak Cabin Build
Take a look at this cozy little cabin with a sloping roof by YouTuber Zaypixel. Doesn’t it make you want to run away to a quiet home in the woods and read a book by the fire?
In fact, this cabin does have a warm, welcoming fireplace as well as bedroom on a loft.
It uses dark oak, oak, spruce, cobblestone and deepslate as the main build materials. But I think it’d look just as pretty with a red-hued mangrove wood and deepslate roof.
The tutorial video above provides clear instructions on how to build this house without breaking a sweat.
13 – Small Spanish Villa
This Spanish villa is so pretty! Dreamed up by YouTube user Gorillo, it is quaint, vibrant and welcoming at the same time.
It is a great example of how you can place bright blocks like yellow terracotta next to red brick and still manage to come up with an aesthetically pleasing build.
The colorful upper floor contrasts very nicely against the cobblestone, sandstone and wood of the first floor.
I really am looking forward to trying out this build in my next Minecraft Survival world.
14 – Pale Oak Survival House
Minecraft’s Pale Garden update which is arriving this winter will bring with it a new Overworld biome filled with pale oak trees, pale moss, resin blocks and a new mob called The Creaking.
The build inspo above posted to the game’s official Instagram account shows an easy Survival house crafted with white wood from pale oak trees, pale oak logs and resin blocks.
The eerie decorative touches include Seeing Eye flowers which bloom at night, pale moss carpets and hanging pale moss.
So if you, like me, have been feeling a deep need for white wood in your Minecraft world, your wishes have come true!
15 – Large Spanish Villa
If you’re playing Minecraft with friends, and prefer to be more ambitious with your builds, how about a larger house like this incredible Spanish villa?
Apart from yellow terracotta and clay for bricks, you will have to collect sandstone, diorite, wood, concrete and other common blocks.
BlueBits’ video shows the building process, but doesn’t go into details like the exact number of blocks of each material and so on.
But that’s what user comments on YouTube are for, right? Thankfully, one viewer has listed down the items you will need to recreate this amazing base.
16 – Aesthetic Farmhouse Build
Next on my list is this picturesque farmhouse that includes animal pens and a small farm as part of its design.
It is made out of different types of wood – an item that is laughably simple to gather in huge amounts in Minecraft (unless you’re playing homesteader in a desert or snowy biome).
The tall windows and the open ground floor plan lend a touch of lightness to the build – the use of wooden for all the walls might otherwise have felt excessive.
The video by YouTuber King of Blocks is clear enough to let you follow along.
17 – Modern Wooden House
Here’s proof that modern houses don’t have to be concrete and glass monoliths.
This simple modern Minecraft base by YouTuber Ayvocado is made out of stripped oak and dark oak logs. Yet its style is unmistakably modern.
The great thing about minimalist shapes like this is that you can scale them up or down, and still retain the original aesthetic.
So go ahead and give it a spin. The supplies are way too easy to acquire.
18 – Lakehouse Build
A house on the water? Yes please! But be warned – this intricate build is not for the faint-hearted.
You might think the building materials are easy enough to collect since they mainly consist of wood and stone.
But you will need vast quantities of every item, and a huge vat of patience. The results will be worth the pain though.
I have bookmarked this how-to video by Lex The Builder since I want to try it out myself. If you’re up for the challenge, you should probably do the same.
19 – Small Taiga House
There’s something special about the Taiga biome with its crisp wintry air and towering spruce trees. Yet, I don’t see too many people opting to build here.
If you do want to establish a Taiga base, try out this cozy cabin by KoalaBuilds on YouTube.
It comes with a cute bedroom and living area, as well as a really groovy basement. The build uses dark oak and spruce wood blocks, apart from stone of course.
You could set up this Survival house in the Dark Forest or Taiga biome since it’d look perfectly at home in either one of these areas.
20 – Cozy Spanish Villa
Please tell me you love this cozy Minecraft house design by Build Therapy (on YouTube) as much as I do!
It’s cottagecore meets Spanish villa. The building is mainly erected from a mix of white terracotta and white concrete blocks as well as green terracotta and green concrete blocks.
To lend it a perfect rustic look, no glass has been used for the windows. It’s all wooden fence posts instead.
The build comes complete with a vineyard, wine cellar and aesthetically overgrown rose garden. The tutorial video is extremely easy to follow if you slow it down in places.
21 – Medieval Survival House
If medieval builds are more of your style, take a look at this house by YouTuber Mr. Miner.
It uses a combination of stone bricks and spruce logs – materials that are easy to acquire early game.
The interesting roof design is what gives it a decidedly medieval vibe.
The size of the house can customized according to your liking and you could always add a basement for extra storage space.
22 – Medieval House with Tower
I know some of you would prefer a slightly wilder appearance when it comes to medieval builds.
So here’s one that fits the bill – a Gothic house with an attached tower by YouTube user Theachup.
You will have to forgo the basalt accents and use some other material as a substitute until you reach the Nether. But otherwise, the items you need to complete this Survival build can be gathered from the Overworld.
So all that’s left to decide is whether to construct it or not.
23 – Cherry Blossom Fairy Build (with Boat Dock)
Here’s a Minecraft fairy build you can’t say no to. It’s a cherry blossom house on the water’s edge.
This delightful dwelling by YouTube user Blockical, comes complete with a dock for a boat and a shaded balcony overlooking the water.
Sticking to a light-colored aesthetic, it is built using pink cherry logs for planks, stairs, slabs and so on. Diorite and white wool are also used the construction.
If you want to make the walls a little more blast proof, you could substitute the wool for white concrete instead.
24 – Sloped Underwater House
You’ve seen a cute house on the water – now how about one under the water?
Check out this extremely cool underwater house idea by YouTuber ManDooMiN! It is ridiculously simple to build and looks modern, yet cozy.
It has two side entrances and staircases leading downstairs as well as a bedroom perched on a loft. The main materials you will need to acquire cover Nether quartz or white concrete blocks, and wood.
You can also add a cellar for storage and a library, should you choose to make this your permanent dwelling in your Minecraft Survival world.
25 – Large Survival House
For those of you who like to build sprawling houses in Survival mode, here’s a fantastic project worthy of your effort!
Created by YouTube’s Lex The Builder, this large dwelling is stunning to behold. It uses a perfect blend of spruce, oak, mangrove and stone to achieve this gorgeous end result.
Apart from serving as your living quarters, the house also boasts lots of room for storage and a towering observatory that can house your brewing stand.
If you told me a witch or wizard lived in this house, I wouldn’t be surprised at all.
26 – Rustic Greek House
Did someone say “rustic, but make it Greek-style”? Your wish is my command.
Here’s a cute little concrete and brick-roofed house you can customize to your liking.
Make it big, make it small; there’s no mistaking the Grecian-inspired aesthetics of this cool build.
It’s so simple to construct, you probably don’t need the tutorial video by creator TheMountainSergeant. But here it is nonetheless.
27 – Simple Survival Mountain House
Chop a bit of wood, mine a whole lotta stone and this amazing mountain house can be yours!
Not only does this base with a view look really awesome, it also blends beautifully into the rocky mountainside.
You can add as many floors as you want and even dig deeper into the mountain if you need more room to expand as you progress in the game.
If you’re considering building it, the how-to video by YouTube user Dio Rods will show you exactly what to do.
28 – Japanese-Style Cherry Wood House
Of course, if you don’t believe in thinking small just because you’re playing in Minecraft’s Survival mode, here’s a more luxurious house you could build out of cherry wood.
You will need stuff from the Nether and End Cities for the interior decor which includes a lot of interesting features such as a chandelier made out of stained glass and End Rods.
But the outside is all about cherry logs, regular wood and stone. So don’t sweat it if you’re still in the early stages of the game.
YouTuber MarchiWORX has posted a detailed video on how to construct this beautiful Japanese-style cherry wood house which also hides a Nether portal inside it.
29 – Modern Underground Base with Aquarium
I’ll confess that I’m not a big fan of modern houses in Minecraft since they don’t always seem to fit in with the untamed scenery in the game.
Yet, I’ve never wanted to build a base as badly as I want to make this one by Nanaroid (check out the YouTube tutorial video below)!
The highlight of this creation is its awesome aquarium with a seating area for you to kick back and watch the fish.
The base has a living room, kitchen/work room and library too. There’s also a fenced off Nether Portal built into the interior.
30 – Aesthetic Wooden Cabin
I’m kinda lazy when it comes to building bases for myself in Minecraft.
So when I construct an aesthetic starter house like this one by Stevler on YouTube, I’m digging my heels in for the duration of my time spent in that particular world.
The white framed windows you see in the image are actually banners – the video tutorial below explains how to craft these.
The rest of the materials on the list encompasses basics like wood, stone, clay (for bricks) and iron, to name a few.
31 – Red & White Minecraft Survival House
Run your eyes up and down this bewitching red and white number by YouTuber Foxel.
I’m not the only one who’s absolutely in love with this build, right?
The house uses mangrove wood for its vibrant rooftop. The reddish hue of this wood contrasts prettily against the white calcite walls and stripped wood support beams that make up the main body.
Do stop and appreciate the cute little details like the mushrooms planted under the raised front porch and brick-lined flowerbeds.
32 – Starter Survival House
Just because you’re building a starter Survival house in Minecraft, it doesn’t have to be bland.
So here’s another option for an aesthetically satisfying cabin that would be at home in any of the biomes in which you choose to settle.
Once you watch the video by Gorillo and understand the basics, you can scale up the design to suit your requirements.
Did you notice the wee open granary attached to the side of the cabin? It’s those little touches that add character to a build.
33 – Multiplayer Survival Base – Large Log Cabin
If you’re indulging in multiplayer, a small log cabin won’t do, of course.
Would you and your friends get together to build this awe-inspiring log cabin by YouTuber jadon?
It’s fantastic, isn’t it? It goes without saying that your team would need to gather a lot of wood, stone and patience to do it.
The above video contains enough pointers to help you construct this majestic cabin. The description even has the full list of items that go into the build.
34 – Small Desert House
Here’s a small desert house you can build in a jiffy in your Minecraft Survival world.
It’s got two stories and a separate entrance for the upper floor.
The house uses wood and sandstone as its primary building blocks.
Check out the tutorial above by Heyimrobby if you want to make one for yourself.
35 – Lakeside Survival House
Gather together some oak, spruce and dark oak logs. Throw in some cobblestone and clay (for bricks), and get ready to erect this lakeside house by YouTuber Gorilla.
This quaint little base comes with a dock for your boat too. The perfect place to build it would be on the edge of a lake or river, of course.
It would also fit in nicely as part of a fisherman’s village by a beach.
Why don’t you try your hand at it? The how-to video above is very easy to follow.
36 – Medieval House with Observatory
Medieval houses have a unique charm of their own, don’t they?
What d’you think of this two-story build that uses calcite (can be substituted with concrete or Nether quartz), brick, stone and wood to give off a Gothic fairy vibe?
It even has a cool observatory tower standing tall beside a smoking chimney.
Thoughtful decorative details such as a wooden awning, cobblestone pathway and attached garden lend this creation a truly endearing appearance.
37 – Starter Japanese House
Next on my list is this simple one story Japanese house made primarily out of wood and white concrete blocks.
Concrete is very simple to craft – all you need is sand, gravel and dye to color it. I would say that this material is kinda underused in starter survival houses in Minecraft.
Elevated on stone slabs, the design shown above by YouTuber Balzy, is distinctly Oriental in architecture and color choice.
Put a beautiful garden with swaying bamboo/sugarcane and a fish pond in front of it, to polish off its charming facade.
38 – Small Japanese Survival House
While we’re on the subject of simple Japanese house ideas, may I present another option for you?
Here’s a creation by Avycado (on YouTube) which uses stone for its sloping roof and ladders as a clever exterior design accent.
It stands off the ground on a wooden platform and has a cute kitchen, bedroom and dining room too.
Do note that the wool used in the build can be swapped for white concrete blocks, if you want slightly more blast resistant walls.
39 – Easy Survival House Idea
There are few builds easier to erect than a simple square base.
And this one by Zaypixel proves you don’t need sloping roofs and complicated architecture to achieve that a cozy cottagecore aesthetic.
The main items are a breeze to acquire since they cover wood, sand (for glass) and stone. But pay attention to the decorative details because that’s what makes this really work.
Since the shape is so basic, you can expand it if you need more room, or you could add a large underground basement for additional storage.
40 – Large Japanese Cherry Wood Survival Base
In case you’d like to go big when it comes to your permanent base in Minecraft, take a look at this large Japanese house built out of cherry, spruce and oak logs.
You will need to gather a lot of materials to construct it. But the result is worth the grind.
YouTuber SEVEN’s Minecraft has posted a detailed tutorial on how to build it along with the roster of supplies you will need.
Smooth quartz is the most “exotic” of the lot, though you can easily swap it out for concrete.
41 – Small Fortress House
Here’s a relatively small Minecraft build for those who want the aesthetics of a castle build, but don’t want to bother with moats and similar fortifications.
It’s a fortress house by YouTube user Keicrowd, which uses a mix of blocks and bricks out of mud, cobblestone and andesite, apart from wood.
You will also need the greenish-blue Warped wood from the Nether to lend it unique look.
I like all the thoughtful details of this build from the mossy cobblestone blocks leading up to the main entrance to the chimney puffing away cheerfully at the top.
42 – Santorini-Style Starter House
Let’s mix it up a bit and check out a few Greek-style builds now. I’ve already shown you a rustic one, now here’s a cool base with Santorini vibes.
I’ll put this down as a Minecraft house idea rather than a tutorial since the video is not very detailed.
Additionally, you will need to construct the building on a bigger scale than shown below in order for it to be useful as a Survival base.
But the appropriate decor elements are present – white concrete, diorite, blue banners and carpets. The roof is topped off with vibrant blue concrete blocks too.
43 – Ancient Greek House
This adorable Greek house doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb. It’s facade is in harmony with the scenery around it.
That’s the main reason I’d really recommend checking out this build if you’re searching for Minecraft builds with Grecian inspiration.
You’ll need to gather up clay (for the brick roof), gravel and sand (for concrete blocks), diorite, andesite, spruce logs and oak wood for the main body.
The rest of the decorative details can be customized according to your taste. But first, do see the above tutorial by YouTube user Ruairiw8.
44 – Survival House With Mine Entrance
I didn’t know how much I needed a house with a mine entrance and a minecart dock until I saw this spectacularly cute build by YouTuber Foxel. It’s not a need anymore, it’s a want!
See the smoking chimney to the side?
It’s an outdoor smithy and storage area for smelting the ores and storing them at hand. Cool, isn’t it?
The house is mostly wood and stone, making it ideal for a Minecraft Survival world build since these items are very easy to acquire.
45 – Cute Taiga Farmhouse
Here’s a medium-sized Taiga farmhouse with a large balcony and attached farm for your consideration.
In keeping with the theme of simplicity, this starter Minecraft base uses cobblestone and wood as its main building blocks.
There’s even a spacious basement below to store all the stuff you will accumulate as you venture further into the game.
YouTube creator Sv Gravity has used shader and texture packs to give this farmhouse the finish you see in the tutorial video above, but you can stick to the vanilla version if you wish.
46 – Survival Japanese House
Here’s a build with Japanese country house vibes for those of you who like Japan-inspired architecture.
The main building blocks used are Deepslate and Spruce logs.
Just like the other starter Minecraft houses on my list, this design by SheepGG proves that creativity is everything when it comes to constructing stuff in the game.
It’s not all about grinding for exotic blocks – it’s about trying different combinations of basic materials like stone and wood to make a dream house worthy of admiration.
47 – Beach House
Let’s look at one more build that you would have to complete late in your game if you’re playing in a Survival world.
It’s a beach house by YouTube user Zaypixel. The build mainly requires different kinds of wood and sandstone as the construction items.
The issue is the striking blue-green roof which uses Prismarine, a material that would require you to mine Ocean Monuments and fight Elder Guardians while you’re at it.
Of course, once you visit the Nether, you could use Warped wood instead to attain a similar effect. It all depends on what you’re willing to grind for.
48 – Ultimate Survival House
Now this one is dedicated to diehard Minecraft fans who spend years in a single Survival world, building and mining and fighting and farming to their heart’s content.
It’s a sprawling behemoth of a base that is guaranteed to take hours and hours to build. The tutorial video by Folli is over 2 hours long. So strap in for the ride only if you’re up to it.
You will want to take a second to marvel at the amount of hard work and patience the creator put into making this gigantic house.
It’s called the “ultimate Survival house” for a reason – you won’t need more room for anything if you ever decide to build it.
49 – Compact Desert House
Here’s a desert survival house with open storage that’s worthy of your attention!
It is constructed using easily acquirable materials like wood, sandstone and sand.
Interesting decorative details such as spruce buttons and a wooden awning to shade you from the harsh desert sun really bring this creation to life.
The video tutorial by ItsMarloe gives clear instructions on how to build one for yourself, if you wish to.
50 – Pretty Desert House
If you’d prefer something slightly fancier for a starter Minecraft house in the Desert biome, you can instead go for this one by Melthie.
The highlight of this build is its brightly colored striped awning and small gardening area, of course.
This is an elegantly simple house to complete in Survival mode since sand, sandstone and wood are the main building materials required here.
We will keep updating this article with more Minecraft house ideas for Survival worlds. So if you want to see more on this topic, please save this post to your Pinterest board!
